the balance between natural light and flash plays a big part in creating a beautiful scene such as this one by Mike Reed. The improvisation to create something so striking from an old ship wreck on the beach impresses me greatly. the lighting is perfect, he has clearly thought about where shadows are falling and how to elimiate them. i think i'll be able to do this to reasonable success when shooting digitally but when using film it may be a little harder to judge without a light meter
